Most “best AI tools” lists are written by people who never opened the app. They copy the marketing page, drop in an affiliate link, and call it a review. I got tired of that. So I built my own forge.
Why this forge exists
If you’re building something on your own — no team, no budget for mistakes — you don’t have time to dig through forty tools to find the two that actually work. That’s my job now: I read the research, weigh the real user reviews, and put the top picks to work myself — so you don’t gamble your week on a tool that looks shiny in a demo and breaks the moment real work hits it.
Who’s swinging the hammer
I go by Brokk — a one-person operation that prefers the work to speak louder than the name. Behind the mask is a real solo founder who builds and ships alone, just like you. The dwarf-smith persona is for fun; the testing is dead serious. Every tool I recommend, I’ve researched hard and put to work myself before saying a word.
How a tool earns a spot on the rack
A tool doesn’t get recommended here until it’s been through the forge. That means:
- I read the real user reviews and weigh what each tool actually does — not just its marketing page.
- The serious contenders, I put to work on real tasks: exports, billing, the boring edges where cheap tools crack.
- I write down what broke, not just what shone. If it has a flaw, you’ll read about it here first.
If something doesn’t survive the hammer, it doesn’t make the list. Simple as that.
An honest word about links
Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It keeps the forge fire burning. But here’s my one rule: no tool gets a kind word it didn’t earn. A commission never buys a recommendation. If I wouldn’t use it myself, I won’t hand it to you.
